Discovering people, places and ourselves

Much of the Vietnam experience was like Asia on steriods. I know it sounds silly with it being in Asia and all...and there are clearly French and other international influences happening but we did feel at times a bit like fish out of water. The beauty of travel is there is nothing that can lead to a new perspective quite like being in an unfamiliar place and seeing yourself and those you love in a different context.
Each of us has at times during the last week or so (which feels like months) has had a little 'brain snap'. Mostly over silly things like, 'this food isn't pizza', 'why doesn't the taxi driver know where our hotel is', 'why can't I speak fluent Vietnamese' etc etc... This morning we made a family pact to be a little more relaxed, enjoy and go with the flow...
Clearly it's working for Sam. Being in Siem Reap is definately helping our new attitude. It is laid back and quite cosmopolitan, the people are friendly, and we can find great food and accomodation at good prices. $1 per kilo washing doesn't hurt either (especially when your luggage consists of 80% dirty clothes).
